No, same here. I doubt this was a totally conscious decision rather than a panic reaction - Mikkel put research and investigation over common sense and safety before (Kastellet with Tuuri and Reynir in tow, and then going to Odense and into the hospital in the first place), and we've seen with the Sjodraug how he is when he's got time to deliberate in a crisis situation, i.e. this is... pretty unusual for him.
And Sigrun was all ready to attack (and Lalli probably would be right behind her once he got over his shock; if not alone then the two of them would probably have handled this thing pretty quickly). Good thing she has quick reflexes, or Mikkel might have gotten himself stabbed there. But the comic is usually pretty good at following up with a karmic "punishment" when someone steps out of line (e.g. Aksel calls Gunnar's boat ugly, gets drenched) and I have a feeling that Mikkel is going to either lose his documents instead of being able to yank them out, or he'll be the one who needs rescuing as of tonight or tomorrow. Or I may be overthinking.
