New Rule: SSSS update commentary should go in the relevant thread for the chapter. Commentary posted outside the specific chapter threads will be moved to the correct place. This is to keep everything organized.

New clarification: It wasn't spelled out before, but this entire post is considered Not Rated in addition to CNTW. This is because it can be kind of hard to filter out NSFW material, considering how things are formatted here.

Final wrap-up commentary on Ch14. Info page should be appearing on March 06. Any thoughts?

I wonder if the final will look similar, or if there'll be major changes.

Mostly I've been skimming and just looking at the concept art, and not reading the discus comments, so - does anyone know if she mentioned anywhere whether the game will be free or not? I'll play it either way, but it'd be helpful to know.

Prooobably another appearance from the Pastor. I think. Then again, that's what I expected in ch14, and it didn't happen. So, who knows!

Also likely that Onni will find out what happened to Tuuri. The fallout from that will be interesting....

Runes would be awesome! I did a bit of digging a few weeks back, and it's pretty interesting to see how they're supposed to operate with all the little squiggles and arrow symbols, but I only managed to find examples based on the AEgishjálmur, Reynir's splodey rune is still a complete mystery to me.

It'd also be neat to have some context to Onni's condition right now. His magic coma isn't quite the same as Lalli's magic coma, seeing how his Luonto is still around and Onni's human form is gone.

Other ideas - more details about the Rash? Cat-tank blueprints?

The first and last already are, about to add Jouko and Oona. :D

+1 to hoping for more detail about Onni's coma, whether it be as infopage or just brought up later in the comic... The differences make me kind of ??? and I'm wondering if he's just able to do this because he's more experienced than Lalli, or what.

Yeah, basically - the only one who's currently able to interact with him (at least until it's over) is Reynir, and he doesn't know enough about Finnish magic to ask the right questions. Lalli probably knowsthe theory at least, so won't need to ask, if he manages to contact Onni again with Reynir's help. So an info page would be good.

Pet theory: Onni's Luonto, as a semi-autonomous spirit, is currently sheltering the rest of him, that's why's he's currentl in owl shape. Somehow it didn't take as much of a hit - maybe Onni somehow re-routed the damage he took? According to wikipedia, one can lose their itse, too, and perhaps that's what happened here instead.

Oof let's hope not, losing your souls goes in manner of severity thus: luonto - itse - henki. Lose your luonto? Resting is recommended, you wait and it'll try to find its way back (it usually can do this independently). Lose your itse and you're pretty much comatose until someone else goes to get it back for you, itse typically get so lost they don't find their owner on their own (they might though, on occasion, but in the most typical scenario you need a witch to go find it for you). Lose your henki and game over, since henki is your life force.

Onni might also be manifesting as a owl simply because he can use his luonto much better than Lalli can and can therefore be aware of himself in his luonto soul as well... Or idk, maybe we'll get more info from Minna at some point...

I'm guessing we're getting slow torture while Minna won't make it absolutely certain whether or not Tuuri is infected. The ghosties will keep following the team and them having to wait for their pick up is going to cause some trouble - that and the fact that they can't go home with Wild Hunt in tow.

(Btw fun fact, Wild Hunt is often said to be lead by Woden/Odin. Or I guess in this case just his horse.)

Looks like nobody's predictions were right. But that's fine, because this is information that is useful to have spelled out.

"Upon the transformation starting the person rapidly loses their ability to recognize loved ones, and grows confused and hostile. Accounts of family members attempting to reach and rehabilitate the mind of those who turned recount only tales of stubborn futility, and no successful recovery of humanity has ever been achieved."

WELL, there's some nightmare fuel for you. An attempt at trying to rehabilitate someone would be a great premise for a horror fic, perhaps. Even if the ending would be obvious.

I saw that and went OOOOOOOOOOOOO at the possibilities of what family members attempting to reach an infected person's soul might mean. Finnish witches' one big specialty is fetching souls that have disappeared after all. Usually the itse-soul, occasionally the luonto if it can't find its way back. (Henki though, when that's gone the game's over, no one can get a henki back once it's gone.)

While henki is your life force and luonto is your protector and luck, the itse is your personality, literally your self. The info page we just got gives symptoms that, to a Finish mage, might well look similar to the condition of losing one's itse. Might some mage have been desperate enough to try to go fetch the doomed soul from the underworld?

Brrrr just imagine going to all of that desperate and dangerous effort, only for it to be all for nothing. Terrible.

Might come with a side effect of destroying a whole village somewhere on Saimaa lake, was my first thought.

I wonder what is meant by "upon transformation starting", though. The Rash showing up, or outright trollification? Looking at the comic, I'd suppose the former, since our best assumption is that a) Tuuri will survive, and b) survive in her own shape, and it'd be odd to me if the physical mutations were reversible. But the phrasing feels pretty deliberately ambiguous...

But horror fic - yes. But no. But yes.
