Shapeshifter/were-animal AU where certain characters (probs the mages but doesn't have to be I guess?) can change either at will or circumstantially into their spirit animal form. But it's a non-apocalyptic situation, so either they have to learn how to deal with their powers as they move through normal modern-day society or else they're part of a magical realism thing with support for their particular circumstances, and maybe other people have other monstrous/magical conditions, or something.

Alternatively we could just bring back the Dragon AU that Haiz (I think it was Haiz) came up with. That was cool
