I have mixed feelings about that author's note. Still trying to process them, though.
Same with me. The response hasn't been making me too pleased, to be perfectly honest.

I'd love to explore them meeting someone else. (But somebody other than me should write it, because I am lazy.)

As for Reynir, I think the dream might just point him towards one step in his journey. Perhaps underneath that Bible is a book on Icelandic magic, for example? :) Or a diary of a priest struggling with his faith as he finds himself able to cast magic? I guess we'll find out more this week! :)

Yeah. I know what you mean. The revision of 549 is a good one, but the author notes seem kind of... dismissive of the problem and the discussions surrounding it. I am not impressed. (Though it's possible that the useful feedback she describes was made up of the public communications on disqus etc, but... The note does not make this clear.)

Anyway. Hmm so, does this suggest that I can expect more ficbits about Sigrun's interactions with the Wu? :)

Re: Reynir, yeah, it's reaaally hard to say. Not enough data! So, I guess that all we can do is sit back and see where this goes.

How Minna dealt with it made it so much worse to me than if she'd just never commented or changed it at all. She completely dismisses legitimate concerns as people being 'meanies', and the only way to be right, whatever your opinion or background, is to 100% agree with and support her. I have absolutely no doubt that of the disapproving messages there were both polite, kind ones and raging arsehole ones, but she chose to consider polite as the same as the arsehole, i.e. inherently wrong because none of it was what she wanted to hear.

Ugh ugh ugh. This is just sticking her fingers in her ears and refusing to even consider that just maybe she was in the wrong.

Yes. The commentary through this entire thing made an already bad situation worse. It was just handled really badly overall.

It's a situation where, commentary-wise, less would have been more.

Yeah, I'm not impressed either. :( Apologies do go a long way for most people (those that matter; ones who still are angry...they don't matter; they're just going to be angry no matter what but for most people...a sorry can help), even if one feels they weren't at fault or it was an honest mistake. Heck, if another coworker from yesterday's shift had not done their duty because it was a hectic day and one patient's refill requests was overlooked among the chaos, and the patient is ragging me today on why their refills weren't filled yet when they had called, I still apologize for the inconvenience and right the mistake. It's the professional way to respond. And putting myself in the patient's shoes, they're sick and afraid of being out of their meds (or in the case of this incident, slurs that bring back bad memories and wounds and a bad energy no one wants in a comic that's been fairly tame otherwise.) *shrugs* And sorry for going into a ramble here, but I've had this bottled up. :) I'll delete this is if you want!

I'm hoping Reynir remains as an Icelandic mage first too. :) Maybe the cross might help if they happen towards any vampire-like creature about.

With Reynir - I'm considering now what Laufey said in the comments, about how maybe the murderghosts would recognize and react positively to Christian symbolism, even if used by an Icelandic mage. And that idea makes sense to me, since the ghosts are from Year 0. They are angry, and probably don't remember much of themselves, but maybe they could be led to some kind of peace through something that they understood when they were alive (even if it's used by someone who doesn't understand it himself).

I was hoping there might be a slightly different approach in today's update as more time has passed or no further comment at all, but it's... I'm disappointed at how this was handled.

(Ehh some comments from people from my country also made me pretty uncomfortable by how they pointed out cultural differences but seemed to dismiss that respecting cultural differences goes both ways. But I probably shouldn't go into this now.)

That would be interesting! Though I doubt we find out much more this week yet :)

I've been reasoning since the church vision that places or objects related to Christianity are going be something strange they run into and are confused about, but now it does seem framed important somehow... it's not exactly something I was hoping for either, but I still have no idea where this could be going. (I've actually thought about it without much success :D)
