Those trolls are hilarious, doubly so when on fire, and yet I can't help but think they're going to start being horrific very soon.

Any bets on what they're about to do next? Sprout tentacles and/or more legs, burst, start screaming and won't stop?

Those two in the bottom panel slammed together pretty hard, but didn't seem to break - unless we see that in the next page... hm. I kind of want to see what would happen if it burst. (DISGUSTING)

What if they don't burst but melt together instead? Into a giant brain-leg thing? Which is ten times stompier... (but still on fire, pfff. Good job, Emil!)

That would be horrible. D:

I found the top-left panel troll plenty horrific, at this time of night, and that was before they turned all stabby and went on fire.

Emil's beautiful faces, as he comprehends and reacts, make me smile though ;p

Glad it's not just me! Still creeps me right out in the light of morning.

No idea what they're about to do (though I don't think it'd be screaming, they don't seem capable of making mouth-noises -phew - I'm rather imagining one of those bubbles bursting under pressure from the fire and showering Emil in goop), but I wonder what Emil is going to do. Go running and scream for Sigrun as he's done in close encounters so far? Or take his cue from the yelling he's heard and run the other way so he doesn't land his teammates in more trouble by luring a bunch of burning trolls their way?

I wonder - since no one can really help him right now, could it be the setup for Emil's first big hero moment?

Running the other way might be good, seeing as Sigrun is kind of occupied at the moment. But depending on how far he gets, he'd possibly be putting himself in even more danger. D:

Yes! That's exactly it, it feels like Minna spent quite a while stacking the odds against Emil to leave him isolated as a consequence of different plot points. Lalli is unconscious and Emil was already resentful about the group as a whole not really caring, he's not happy with Mikkel for busting his leg, he didn't understand what was happening with the ghosts and Sigrun yelled at him for it, he wasn't ready for another monster fight or guard duty apart from the group... now the cat-tank is gone, Sigrun is in danger and Mikkel is trying to get her out (and not a combatant, unless we get a surprising Mikkel reveal out of this as well).

Hum. On second thoughts... it's been quite a downward spiral. Maybe it's not a hero moment at all to turn the tide, and rather a critical fail of some sort? Probably as the weekend cliffhanger, while we're at it...

I find them really horrific already but brain stuff is very dnw for me /shudder

though I concur about the ones at the bottom possibly fusing together. Ohh, but what if they burst and the fluid inside is superbly flammable? Yikes!

And I can add "Are brains flammable?" to my list of weird google searches...

Yeah. Oh, man, I almost feel bad for the squishy little dudes, they're the most ineffectual trolls we've seen yet. All they do is toe-stomp things and fall over a lot. These guys look like they're more likely to knock each other over than anything else! Splap over onto the ground and wiggle their firestilts. (I mean, they probably won't. Just a mental image.)

Looks like Emil's gonna get his bonfire, though.

Stomping, indeed. Very. They look dorky, but I wouldn't want to be curb-stomped by one of those things!

I've been jonesing for FIRE for ages, but I'm not quite sure if I imagined this is the kind of enemy he'd be up against. ;p

There is probably nothing that could make jellysticks sound cool and intimidating. It'd be the worst thing to have to explain.

Hrmmm, from p.496 I've been interpreting their legs as ending in knives, daggers, some manner of slicey/stabby edged weapon that is capable of serious damage, though perhaps limited by having pretty much just one angle to stab from & the need to keep one's balance.

Yeah, pretty much I'm cool with anything from light cosmetic scratches up to guts hanging out for kitty to feast on. (In fanworks. Canon-wise, preferably no imminent death! And no tragic traumatic haircuts/scalpings.)

I probably wouldn't go so far as cat food, buuuut now you've got me entertaining possibilities of seeing him go through slice-y and potentially fatal hell, I must admit. Going to have to put it on the to-do list. I did tell myself I'd try writing more action/horror, so....

(And yes of course re: canon. Hurt the pretty guy, yes please, but nothing... like... permanent.)

Honestly, Emil would find a small scratch on his pretty face probably worse than a big bleeding cut anywhere else. As long as it wasn't deadly, anyway. He's not vain enough to prefer death to scars on his face. Probably.

Perhaps 8) he just needs someone 8) to show him 8) how good it looks on him 8) persistently until he gets the message 8)

(Although I'm mostly imagining Sigrun yelling at him in an entirely unsexy way about OF COURSE BEING KNOCKED AROUND BY COMBAT LOOKS GOOD ON ANYONE, STOP WHINGING)

They do look sharp! Maybe it's bone? Would definitely be edged enough to hurt, people have made knives out of bone! And just about anything slightly sharpened can do damage with the right applied force and a, er, target with enough give. Plus, there's enough of them that trying to dodge one could back him right into a crowd of more. And also they're all on fire. D:
