Hannu isn't very good at kissing. Well, he's not terrible, but he has a tendency to be unenthusiastic about it and make the other person do most of the work. Though this can be said for Hannu + romance in general. Or Hannu + human interaction in general. He isn't the most cooperative guy.
Human!Ville is terrible at kissing and uses way too much tongue and is overall excessively enthusiastic about it in the way that makes one go Whoa, calm down, buddy. ...He just needs some practice. Probably.

I can easily see Hannu as aro-ace, not just because he's such a misanthrope. Other people are work and a bother, but he also doesn't get a lot of out of dealing with them in terms of "rewards" (sex/romance or even just companionship) so there is zero impetus for him to even try. I feel like everyone expected him to get together with Paju at some point, and there probably was kissing involved when they were younger, but it was only just enough to figure out that he didn't care.

Yeah, as much as I love shipping Hannu with everybody, I also like that it's really easy to see him as aromantic/asexual as well. He'd probably be happy just living platonically with Ville for the rest of his life and never having romantic involvement with anybody, and I think that's really nice. (Definitely on my "stuff to write somehow eventually probably" list...)

And yes! The shipping is a fandom thing, not something I'd expect to happen in the comics (except for Emil/Lalli, there's too much subtext there for that to not be intentional, and I highly doubt Minna would be the type of author to go for queerbaiting even if the romance never becomes explicit). It really is nice that she doesn't resort to rigid gender roles and everyone being allo-cis-straight but leaves room for interpretation in other directions.
I'd love to see you tackle this for Hannu and Ville, eventually probably. :D
