Also laughing my ass off at the fact that they wedged the team kitty and the team puppy onto one mattress pad. Also that they're both bony enough to fit. Stabby elbows bedtime!

Indeed! If Lalli doesn't manage to keep Reynir (or himself) quiet, everyone will think they're under attack again (or fighting like...cats and dogs.) XD

Well, when it's two mages we're dealing with.....those boys certainly have options. >)

If the mage info page is to be believed, he's seeing the future, except in a slightly abstract/symbolic way, I guess. As with the ghosts: Reynir predicted them showing up, but the literal face-shattering attack didn't happen and was probably his subconscious telling him that they were dangerous, soul/identity-killing/stealing buggers... pretty much what we saw happen with poor Watcher troll, really.

As post-Rash Icelander, I don't know if Reynir's subconscious would go for Christian symbolism, so I'm inclined to read the church as a real place the team might be headed to explore next chapter (also due to the lack of swirly dream panels), while the candle and the window sheep are borrowed from the setting as the most fitting things there to convey what Reynir's prophetic skill is trying to tell him - I kind of like the idea that they represent people, i.e. the descendants of Year 0 survivors who hid out in that church - maybe one of them is acting as priest (preserving light/knowledge/faith - hence the candle) and two among their "flock" who developed their own kind of magic (the sheep)?

I can't wait to see where this is going! :D

Yeah, for all we know, he could know as much about Christianity as the average person about, say, Sumerian myth. There's just so much we don't knoooooooooooow. orz

I really like your interpretation of what the candle and sheep mean, and it'll be interesting to see if you're correct. Reading it gave me a big "omggggg" moment.

I'm really intrigued by this page! Firstly, the sheep. While they are usually Reynir's symbols, I'm not sure if these are Icelandic sheep? Also, the glowing eyes made me think more of Finnish mages.

The other thing is the church itself. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I wonder what the meaning is of the church itself. Is the church symbolizing something neutral (yay, exploring an Old World location!), or hostile (full of ghosts!) or even positive (relating to spirituality/a place where a mage might find solace in hiding by Year 90?)

And that whispers...I feel like they're about to meet someone? ~~Katla!~~ I don't know if all of Reynir's dreams are going to lead up to something big or if they come true in some small way in the following chapter (which I feel did happen with his previous nightmare of that ghost breaking his face and this most recent chapter.) I'm just thinking out loud at this point! :)

With the next chapter presumably being a lighter one, maybe this is a sign of it? :)

Those whispers really had me weirded out. But since the dream itself doesn't seem to be a warning, maybe it's not something to worry about. ...Maybe the whispers are ghosts, but not hostile? More like the kind of ghosts/spirits that Reynir is familiar with from home?

I'm putting my cash on "probably an actual location that they will explore" buuuut hard to say at this point.

I just realised: if the ghosts stole the form of the water troll, what's to say that they're human ghosts at all? They could well be something else entirely and simply stole human forms, potentially from those humans who had been left behind who died of 'other causes' (page 417).

They seem to be congregating around places many humans have died some time after year 0, anyway.

...Hmm. I hadn't considered that, but it's possible. Especially since the illness seems to have supernatural origins, maybe.

Arrrgh I want more information, but at the same time, I'm glad we'll get a break from those creepies.
